Before + After: Reorganizing and Repurposing Functional Closets

Are your closet rods the root of the issue?

Believe it or not, many of the closets and rods in older homes don’t properly fit a normal sized hanger. This often causes the closet doors to not close all the way, in some cases causes closet doors to fall off, and overall is just a pain when trying to hang your clothes.

Our client has a two bedroom home, and wanted to use one bedroom as a home office. The closets in both bedrooms were not functional - the hanging rods protruded too far from the wall, causing the doors to hit the coat hangers every time they opened and closed. We sourced different size closet shelf brackets that would allow clothes to hang without coming into contact with the doors. We repurposed an existing bookcase as an open dresser for storing sweaters. We did a major decluttering session, and assisted the client with selling items on The Real Real.

She also has a back unit which is being used for storage, as well as a back garage space which is holding more storage items, old furnitures, unpacked boxes, and household items. Next step, converting the back unit into an amazing library / guest suite! See some of the before photos below.
