Before + After: Downsizing Storage Space

Decluttering and Downsizing Your Home to Prepare for Moving

… we have to do it, but when the new space has different formats for storage and closet space, we help you to get creative!

Did you know that one of our favorite aspects of the job is finding homes for items that is no longer needed? If not, check out our resources on giving back and donating!

Our client moved from a home with a large walk in closet into a new space with substantially less closet and storage space. In her new home, she converted her garage into her office where she runs her business. She also built in a large wardrobe to store her out of season clothing, shoes, and accessories to allow her more room for her in-season wardrobe upstairs.

We helped her to do a major decluttering session in the garage and also upstairs in her master bedroom. We installed different shelving and hanging solutions in the IKEA wardrobes in the garage, and added baskets for better storage in the closet upstairs. These changes might seem small, but in the overall plan to keep the home efficient and organized, even the most simple storage solutions create a better sense of peace and mindfulness. When your storage and closet place changes, new solutions are a must!

Project Breakdown:

  • Products: Approximately $500 including shelving, hanging, baskets and more

  • 2 days with 2 organizers, 8 hours the first day, 6 hours the second day
