Before + After: Organizing a Craft Studio

Reorganizing a room that had an original purpose but had become household storage.

Sometimes our clients have a room or space that they have designated for a certain purpose, but overtime have become disorganized due to other items that have taken up the space. For Amy, her craft room + storage had started to become overrun with household items and other backstock. We helped her to create systems to get the original purpose of her room back in place!

When an item doesn’t have a home, it is easy to put it in a place where there is space with the thought that you will find the home later. This can end up causing an overwhelming chaos! When we met with Amy to talk about organizing her craft room, she thought it was crazy that we would find this to be a fun project. Creating categories and finding systems is so rewarding, not only for our clients, but for us because we know that our client’s lives will run that much more smoothly!

The craft room was a combination of household items, sentimental things, incoming influencer gifts and product backstock. After sorting through the items, we set up good shelving systems, containing and labeling each bin for every different type of craft. We purged some household items, and created bags of excess crafting supplies to give to local charities. Containing items in clearly labeled plastic totes is more visually appealing and less overwhelming than overstuffed cardboard boxes that aren’t holding up well. Once you know these tips and tricks, organizing and maintaining your categories and sections is so much easier to do!
