WHERE WE DONATE
+ A Sense of Home — Donate gently used household items and furniture to help create first-ever homes for youth who "age out" of foster care.
+ Baby2Baby — Donate your gently used children's clothing & toys, car seats, cribs, and any new/unused supplies. Check their website for locations.
+ Buy Nothing Groups — A hyper-local way to give back based on the sub-city you live in. They are found by city, and it’s a great way to give items to your neighbors rather than items going to waste.
+ Dress for Success — Donate your gently used business attire and Dress for Success will provide a woman in your area with a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help her thrive in work and in life.
+ Freecycle — A grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and neighborhoods. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills.
+ Trans Wellness Center — Accepting donations for new, unused clothing, shoes, accessories, and wellness essentials such as new makeup, hygiene/hair products, tampons, pads, as well as gender neutral or masculine professional clothing. TWC provides resources for transgender and non-binary people from a 3,000-square-foot center, with six local organizations joining forces.
+ Animal Shelters across Los Angeles — Animal shelters always need blankets, toys, and other items from their Wish Lists. And of course always need volunteers! Learn more.
+ LA Family Housing — LA Family Housing helps people transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services.
+ Alexandria House — Alexandria House is a transitional residence and house of hospitality providing safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing.
+ LA Mission — Los Angeles Mission breaks the cycle of homelessness and poverty, by stabilizing people in a safe and spiritual environment, connecting them to solutions and walking with them on their journey.
+ Habitat for Humanity — When remodeling your home, consider donating old appliances or even cabinetry! They will resell your items and the profits will go toward building and repairing homes around the world.
+ James Storehouse — Donate essential home and personal care items to James Storehouse to support children and youth in foster care.
+ Lion's Club — Donate your old eyeglasses to Lion's Club who will repurpose your frames for someone who is in need! Give the gift of sight.
+ Local Libraries — If your book collection has grown too large for you, donate your old (loved!) books to your local library so that others can experience the magic of reading them.
+ Madewell — Donate old denim in any condition (from any brand) and you'll get a $20 credit toward a new pair of jeans. Bonus: They recycle your jeans into housing insulation through their partnership with Habitat for Humanity-- A total win-win!
+ Operation Blankets of Love — Donate your old towels + blankets (in any condition!) for pets awaiting adoption. Check here for nearest drop-off locations.
+ The People Concern — The People Concern’s model of integrated and comprehensive care empowers our participants to navigate the multi-faceted obstacles in their lives, become their best selves, and ultimately, connect with and contribute to their communities.
+ Downtown Women’s Center — The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women.
+ Union Rescue Mission — Offering more than just meals and shelter, URC provides hurting souls with a variety of programs to serve the whole person in mind, body, and spirit.
+ Upward Bound House — The mission of Upward Bound House (UBH) is to eliminate homelessness among families with children in Los Angeles by providing housing, supportive services, and advocacy. Accepting donations of food, clothing, and household items.
+ Hope: the Mission — Committed to offering second chances to everyone they serve; providing a range of services, from shelter and housing to emotional support, mental health services, and financial assistance.
WHERE WE RECYCLE
+ Amazon Free Electronics Recycling Program — Did you know that Amazon will send you a free UPS shipping label and recycle your small consumer electronics? They also offer a trade-in program if your devices qualify.
+ Call2Recycle — Reusable and single use batteries, as well as old cell phones, can be safely recycled (and saved from the landfill!). Check out their website to find a drop off location near you.
+ CalRecycle — E-waste is a popular, informal name for electronic products nearing the end of their "useful life." Computers, televisions, VCRs, stereos, copiers, and fax machines are common electronic products. Many of these products can be reused, refurbished, or recycled.
+ Earth911 — Do you have old paint cans, chemicals, or other hard to dispose of items around your home? Visit Earth911 and simply enter your zip code and what you’re trying to recycle - they’ll provide you with a list of places!
+ Suay LA — Suay LA not only provides repairs to extend the life cycle of your clothing, but they also accept textile donations and so much more. Drop off your stained or torn clothing and they’ll do their part to turn it into something awesome.
+ Nordstrom (BeautyCycle) — Nordstrom stores, Nordstrom Locals, and Nordstrom Racks are accepting beauty product packaging for recycling. Bring your recycling to a participating store near you. Learn more.
+ H&M Textile Recycling — Worn out clothes, single socks, old linens - any textiles you longer want and aren’t in good enough condition to sell or donate can be recycled! Simply drop off your items at your local H&M store
+ Homeboy Recycling — Certified electronics recycler that can dispose of old appliances, computers, batteries and much more. Community drop-offs and mailbacks are both available.
+ SAFE Center — LA Sanitation (LASAN) has established programs for Los Angeles City and L.A. County residents to safely dispose of their household hazardous waste (HHW) and electronic waste (E-waste). These wastes can be dropped off at permanent collection sites known as S.A.F.E. Centers or mobile collection events located throughout the City of Los Angeles.
+ PaintCare for Sherman Williams — Accepting house paint as well as primers, stains, sealers and clear coatings such as shellac and varnish for recycling. Paint is reused, recycled, processed for alternative uses, or responsibly disposed of, and emptied paint containers are separated by material type for recycling. Find a location near you.
