Setting Intentions & Goal Setting
updated Dec 2024
Start the year off with a bang by getting clear on how you want to feel this year. What do you want more of in your life? The start of the year can be great for a reset, but I like to continually check in throughout the year.
I use the moon cycles as a way to make sure that every month I’m reassessing what’s working and what’s not. On the new moon, I like to write down a list: what do I want to accept? What do I want to release?
On the full moon I reflect - have those things come to fruition? And if not, what can I adjust to get there? For me, I want to experience more joy, creativity, and freedom. I set my goals around these feelings.
How can I bring more joy, creativity, and freedom into my life long term?
I will invest more on community outreach projects through Composed Giving — the nonprofit we launched last summer.
I will explore new vendors for sustainable storage solutions. I love working with local/small businesses.
I would like to take pottery classes and dance lessons!
In our marriage, we set a goal of having at least one date night a month where we can do something adventurous or new - being silly together as a couple always brings me joy.
I reset each month - breaking down my wellbeing into these categories and asking the questions to get to the root of how I’m feeling:
Career:
What little victories can be celebrated?
What is most exciting or moving forward in my career?
What changes could be made in my career, both now and in the distant future?
What new skills do I have interest in learning?
Love Life:
If you have a partner:
Does your partnership make you happy?
What do you do to make each other happy? What can you do to make each other happy?
What can you do to make your partnership feel fresh and exciting?
In what ways do you prioritize yourself vs. prioritize your partner? Is it a healthy balance?
If you don’t have a partner:
What kind of connection are you looking for?
What qualities are you looking for in a partner? (be specific)
Are you holding onto anything from the past that you would like to release?
Are there any patterns you would like to break from past connections?
Friends:
Are your friendships adding value to your life?
How can your friends support you in becoming the person you want to be?
What fun activities would you like to do with your friends?
Have you checked in with them lately?
Do you feel that you can be vulnerable with your friends? Why or why not?
Health:
Do you feel good in your body?
When you have an ailment, do you pay attention to it?
Have you been keeping up on your doctors appointments?
What physical activities make you feel the best upon completion?
Are you craving anything? Are you listening to your body?
If you have any recurring health issues, are you sticking with your plan to start feeling good? Are you seeing progress?
