10 Clutter-Free Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is only a week away! Coming up with gift ideas can be hard when your mom doesn’t have anything in mind that they particularly want or need - especially when you want to be mindful of avoiding gifting something wasteful. Our guide to clutter-free gift giving for your mom won’t add clutter and is more sustainable! Get creative with your gifts to give joy without giving clutter!

Flowers Shipped to Their Door!

Most mamas love flowers, but they might not have a florist nearby that you’re able to head to and order from. Bouqs and Farmgirl Flowers both make it SO easy to order online. If you know your mom already has lots of vases, choose an option without a vase for ultimate clutter-free gifting!

Acts of Service

This can look like any number of things, but some ideas are:

  • Cook her favorite meal - and do the dishes afterward!

  • Clean her home!

  • Run errands for her, like doing her grocery shopping or taking her clothes to the dry cleaners!

Spa Treatment

You can never go wrong with a trip to the spa! Book her a facial or a massage at Burke Williams or Ciel Spa at the SLS Hotel. Or, make a day out of it and hit the spa together followed by a nice lunch!

Update Her Garden!

Plant something in her garden - make it a tradition and plant something in her yard every year! Plant trees if there’s room, or a houseplant, heirloom bulbs, or a collection of herbs if she doesn’t have a yard.

One of our team members LOVES ordering from True Leaf Market, who carry all kinds of seeds, sprouting kits, supplies for fermenting your own veggies, and making nut milks at home!

Meditation Classes

Meditation classes are a great gift that doesn’t add any clutter to your mom’s life, but will help her declutter her mind!

We highly recommend a private meditation class with Tony Lupinacci (@tonylupinacci on IG) OR one of his retreats if you’re real splurging on mom! We’ve been and it is truly magical. Or you can find a local mediation center if they’ve resumed in person classes! Peace Awareness Labyrinth Gardens has some awesome mindfulness workshops and meditations.

You could also make her a reservation for a sensory deprivation tank to clear her mind somewhere like Just Float.

Tarot Reading

I love getting a tarot reading - I feel it often confirms inklings I already had and helps me confirm if I’m on the right path. I highly recommend doing a reading with @thepathofcinnamon. Shoot her a dm to set up a time for a virtual reading. She will really help put things in perspective for you, discuss your shortcomings/blocks, and talk about how current astrological transits are affecting you, if that’s something you’re interested in hearing about.

Something To Indulge

Send her a creative food item from Goldbelly that she would not be able to find locally! Send her a blueberry sour cream coffee cake from Maine, a lobster bloody mary mix, or rainbow bagels, or donuts that spell out “best mom ever.” Or, get her a subscription to a coffee club! Canyon Coffee Roasters are an awesome local coffee option - and their monthly subscription is very affordable!

Go See Art!

Give her the gift of an experience and get her tickets for the Immersive Frida Kahlo experience in Hollywood or the Banksy Expo in Culver City!

Local Memberships

We love supporting local cultural organizations in our city! Depending on mom's interests, she may love a membership to an art museum (like MOCA), the local philharmonic (like The Walt Disney Concert Hall), concert venue (like The Hollywood Bowl), or maybe even an aquarium (like Aquarium of the Pacific! This will give her something to do all year long, not just on Mother’s Day!

Wine Tasting

Take her to do a wine tasting and if she loves it, get a wine subscription from the winery! We love Cielo Farms in Malibu and Alma Rosa winery in Santa Barbara if you’re looking for a wine club. Cielo Farms will let you bring your own picnic snacks with you to pair with your wine!
