How to Gift Clutter Free this Holiday Season

As more and more people are embracing “living with less,” more and more people are excited to receive gifts that don’t come in the form of a physical object. We love this shift because buying things for others is a major contributor of waste. It’s very rare that one will actually know what another needs, and will regularly use.

Check out our list of Clutter-Free gifting ideas below for inspiration and make the shift too.

Give something charitable.

Make a donation in their honor to your charity of choice, like Alliance of Moms or CASA. You could also try making food to take to a shelter! It's a great way to help others while spending time with your loved ones.

Give time.

Know someone with a new baby? Babysit the kiddos, and treat them to a grown-up dinner and cocktails (or two or three…). If you don’t live close enough, have dinner delivered, schedule a virtual organization session, or hire a local massage therapist.

Give travel.

After several years of staying closer to home, it feels like there is travel to be done. You can purchase someone an Airbnb gift card or experience. Another option is to give them a giftcard to their favorite airline or a Flightgift credit which gives them access to over 300 airlines worldwide.

Give something to do.

Gift a museum membership and give them something they’ll love to do all year long. My favorite museum in LA is LACMA (hello, museum AND bar?!), but there are so many excellent places to choose from, like the Hammer, the Zimmer, or the Natural History.

Give something to hear.

Consider gifting a subscription to a streaming platform such as Spotify, Pandora, or Apple Music. If your friend enjoys books, you can never go wrong with an Audible subscription.

Give something to eat.

Whether a gift card to a restaurant, favorite grocery store or even a registration with a local CSA - food is always a great way to show love. Another option is to jump on board and gift a Meal Kit service. It’s hard to keep up with all of the options these days, from Blue Apron, Hello Fresh and Green Chef - there is something for everyone’s budget and food priorities. Check out some of the options here.
