Maximize your Space by Living on your Patio

Have you been spending tons more time outdoors, especially on your patio this past year? Us too! We want to share some of our top tricks to sprucing up your patio, and also adding storage containment!

How pandemic + quarantine forced us to expand our living spaces.

A patio not only provides you solace of being able to get some much needed fresh air after a long day or stressful week, but it expands the ability to engage with your neighbors and expand your community. Use it to show off your personal style while still being outdoors by utilizing weather resistant products to create the perfect space for afternoon drinks. Here’s a few items we recommend adding to your patio to bring some additional life to the space!

Add Plants

You can never have too many plants, so I love adding these wall mounted planters to any space - whether you're decorating an apartment balcony or a lush backyard. If your patio area has a cover, these hanging planters are also perfect to add color and dimension into your space!

Lighting

Solar lanterns add ambience without needing any electricity or batteries. We love this two-pack of lanterns! Depending on your style, these rattan lanterns might suit your patio more! In our opinion, lanterns are a must have for the perfect “after-sunset” setting!

Another great option are these solar powered string lights for your backyard! They truly help to transform your space! Plus, they are just about the same price as the kinds that you plug in, and would save you money long term by using no electricity. Win-win! The goal is to make the patio feel like an extension of your living space. Adding outdoor rugs plays into that illusion and also just make it that much cozier!

Making It Kid-Friendly

No matter if you have a pool or not, it’s important to make the patio kid-friendly! That means you will certainly want to have glasses and plates that are not breakable! If you do have a pool, that’s even more of a reason to have good outdoor glassware, even for adults. Sometimes I get the feeling that clients feel that outdoor glassware has to be cheesy and not comparable with the rest of their decor, but there are actually so many amazing styles to choose from. We LOVE this fluted acrylic set and this set of melamine plates, and the fact that they both come in a variety of colors.

Outdoor Storage

I love any kind of outdoor storage that looks beautiful and serves multiple purposes. This could be a potting stand, it could also hold pool towels, sunscreen, and goggles by a pool. If you're throwing a backyard party, you could transform this into a drink station, styling beautiful glassware on the shelves.

A storage bench can protect your cushions and throw blankets from the elements while also offering an extra place to sit and relax. If you need storage more for the containment aspect and want it to be covered, this is our recommendation!
