Before + After: Declutter and Moving During a Pandemic
Moving during a pandemic can be tough!
…but it can also allow decluttering and parting with items that can be donated to others in need.
Did you know that one of our favorite aspects of the job is finding homes for items that is no longer needed? If not, check out our resources on giving back and donating!
Our client had already moved into their new space, but needed help decluttering and removing items from the old space that they wanted to sell. They had moved during the pandemic and we wanted to ensure that we were being mindful of where each item was going that they had left behind and were letting go of. This is for two reasons. 1) they wanted to ensure that everything they no longer needed would be given directly to someone who can use it, or consigned if it was a high value item, and ensuring that things like batteries and old electronics were responsibly recycled. 2) they also wanted to declutter the space so that they could have it photographed to be put on the market and sold.
There were four storage units worth of items that were given to those in need through our charity partnerships, fulfilling the request of our client to find the items thoughtful and mindful homes. We sorted each item by which charities were in need and delivered them directly to the charity partners and consignment. With the now decluttered space ready to be sold, we styled and staged the remaining belongings so that it would look clean and beautiful to potential buyers.
After the condo sold, the client wanted help boxing up the remaining belongings and organizing them into the new home - and donate the final pieces that were used for staging at their condo. We were able to see the project from start to finish and donate many items to those in need, all while helping our client declutter and sell their condo.
