Before + After: Creating a Shared Bedroom for Kids
Creating a Shared Bedroom Space for Two Boys
Nothing gives us more joy than being able to help our clients bring simplicity and organization to their lives. We hope this sparks some inspiration for you as well!
Our clients were transitioning their boys into one shared bedroom, so we wanted to create a space that worked well for both of them! With kids, it's so important to ensure that everything has a home so that cleaning up at the end of the day is a breeze. We wanted to be sure we used soft but sturdy materials for the baskets, and ended up with a combination of natural fiber baskets and plastic bins with lids.
The boys’ closet was mostly used for toy storage, as they had a dresser to contain the majority of their clothing. So we added a few additional custom shelves from CA Closets to create even more storage for toys. All baskets are from The Container Store. This project took about 8 hours to complete, over the course of two days (we had to wait for delivery of shelves). We file folded the dresser drawers, which creates more space and makes it easier to see everything you own. And made sure to store only age appropriate toys at the lower level to make sure the little brother was getting into older brother's toys.
Project Breakdown:
2 Organizers for 8 Hours, split over 2 days
Products: $305 for organizing products (furniture excluded)
Baskets, acrylic drawer dividers, additional shelving in closet
